Friends University is seeking to fill the Assistant Director of Residence Life position in Wichita Kansas.
Description:
This position is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and developmental educational opportunities within the residential communities. This position will also assist in providing a coordinated effort to our student leadership development efforts across all student leadership on campus. It is a requirement of this position to live in university housing and eat in the Casado dining room.
Assists the Director of Residence Life in providing leadership and support to professional and para-professional residence life staff. This includes providing mentorship, assisting with staff development initiatives, supporting departmental projects, and serving as a resource regarding Residence Life policies, procedures, and best practices. Assists in the administration of Residence Life conduct process and student support efforts. This includes reviewing incident reports, conducting assigned conduct meetings, maintaining conduct documentation, responding to student concerns, collaborating with campus partners regarding accommodations and student wellbeing, and assisting with crisis response and intervention efforts.
Coordinates departmental operations and housing processes. This includes assisting with occupancy management, room assignments, housing records, move-in and move-out operations, break and summer housing processes, assessment efforts, and other administrative functions necessary for the effective operation of Residence Life.

Qualifications:
Must have experience working with college students and supervising student leaders or staff members. Experience in residence life, student conduct, crisis response, housing operations, student leadership development, or related student affairs functions is preferred. Candidates should possess strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience with student information systems, database management, and Microsoft Office products is preferred. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Leadership, or a related field preferred. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required. Ability to build positive working relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, and campus partners. Must possess the ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner, exercise sound judgment, navigate complex student situations, and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
