The Area Coordinator (AC) position is a live-in, 10 month position (July 15-May 15) in our Residence Life Department. Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Residence Life, ACs play a critical role within the residential community as mentors, advisors, and co-curricular educators for Resident Assistants (RAs), Assistant Area Coordinators (AACs), and residents, helping to deliver our Be Known Promise to all students at George Fox.
Residence Life’s departmental mission is “fostering shalom in a culture of chaos.” As a Christ-centered community, Residence Life at George Fox is committed to a culture of civility, respect, and inclusivity amidst the ever-increasing chaos surrounding our students. As a department, we value diversity in our student leaders. It is imperative that the Area Coordinator recognizes and appreciates the multitude of people and perspectives that exist in our work, including racially/ethnically marginalized students, dominant culture students, first-generation students, and international students. The AC functions as part of a team responsible for the overall strategic coordination of student success and university-wide retention efforts through fulfillment of this mission.
