The Student Affairs Graduate Assistant serves to support the mission of Lancaster Bible College and Student Affairs. This position will provide broad, general support for administration of the Student Affairs Office. Specifically, this position will work with the Assistant Dean of Discipleship and Leadership to assist with the logistics of chapel and overall spiritual formation needs across campus.
Contract Dates: August 3, 2026 – May 14, 2027
Hours Per Week: 15-20
Compensation: $9500 stipend and full-time graduate tuition discount up to 9 credits, per 16-week semester (does not include books and fees)
Essential Responsibilities:
Support Assistant Dean of Discipleship and Leadership with the planning and execution of the 2026-2027 chapel services.
Planning
- Schedule and coordinate with faculty and external guest speakers for chapel.
- Coordinate with Music Worship Performing Arts Department to coordinate worship team schedule with chapel schedule.
- Participate in Chapel Team Meeting: Assistant Dean of Discipleship and Leadership, MW&PA Faculty, Live Production Faculty
- Participate in weekly Chapel Planning Meeting: Assistant Dean of Discipleship and Leadership, MW&PA Faculty, Student Team Leaders. Represent Assistant Dean of Discipleship and Leadership when he cannot attend.
- Participate in pre-chapel Huddle Meetings (TWR 8:30-8:40am)
- Attend Chapel (TWR 9-9:40am)
- Special Chapels
Coordinate with the Office of the Provost for Convocation.
Coordinate with Director of Alumni for Heritage Week Chapels.
Coordinate with Assistant Dean of Discipleship and Leadership for Day of Prayer planning and execution.
Coordinate with student organizations for student-led chapels.
Coordinate with Assistant Dean of Discipleship and Leadership for special programming such as Jessica & Friends, Cultural Celebration Day, or any other special chapels.
Organization
- Update Planning Center services as needed.
- Schedule chapel speakers and provide confirmation of dates.
- Build chapel services in Planning Center for fall and spring semesters.
- Create “Looking Ahead Slides” with speaker photos.
- Create Scripture Reader Sign-up form and recruit readers.
- Schedule Wednesday Chapel Welcome (typically, Assistant Dean).
- Submit Chapel Speaker Honorarium Request to Finance Department.
- Update Speaker Bio’s Document.
- Coordinate details of overnight accommodations for external speakers including itinerary, meal passes, reimbursements, class visits, tours, meetings with faculty and students.
Communication
- Send out and collect speaker confirmation forms.
- Provide Marketing Department with speaking schedule and speaker headshots.
- Manage email correspondence with chapel speakers.
- Coordinate with Academic Departments to organize guest speaking opportunities for outside speakers upon request.
- Email Scripture passages to student/faculty/staff readers.
- Collect speaker’s Scripture passages, slides decks, and special requests.
- Coordinate replacement speakers on an emergency basis.
Qualifications
- Strong Christian character and able to articulate the message of the gospel.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Willingness to work with individuals from diverse national, ethnic, ability, social, denominational and economic backgrounds.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office
Other Expectations
Graduate Assistants wishing to seek additional employment must receive approval from the Associate Dean.
- Graduate Assistants should schedule personal appointments and events around their work and graduate school schedules.
